The Lesson In It All
"The Universe is malleable to your thought and vibration and will respond to it, it is your choice on what you want" - Hemal Radia
Sometimes life forces you to do things you wouldn't expect. It has a way of making you stop and think about decisions you have made or are about to make. It's even more interesting to notice these "signs" in light of conversations you have right before something happens. As if being rear-ended by a drunk driver with a suspended license wasn't bad enough, we managed to miss our flight we were suppose to be on. Life is hilarious and as many times we go through this journey experiencing set backs, it never ceases to amaze me that there is always a lesson to be learned from it all; even car accidents and when they're not your fault.
Who knew a business trip mixed in with a little bit of personal weekend plan with my wife would be abruptly interrupted. In hindsight (it just happened 2 day ago), we are both lucky and grateful to be alive but it's even more surreal when you discover so quickly WHY it all happened for you and not to you. I know you must be thinking I need to get a check up for a concussion because this all sounds crazy, "things happen to people not for them". But I have to disagree. Perhaps as you went about your day, you found 4 different discarded white gloves at widely separated streets, maybe when you were driving, you passed three cars in a row whose license plates ended in the number 23, maybe you had a drunken man accost you in the grocery store and called you by the name of your long-passed mother, a name no one has spoken to you in 15 years! While you might not know the answer right away, some do and because we are guided with these subtle and not so subtle (if we ever chose not to listen) experiences it requires us to be living in the questions of wonderment: "why did it happen?, what does that mean?, what is the message?".
Am finally on the plane to LA and am sitting next to a big time movie producer, not knowing who she was at first. We engaged in a normal "flight etiquette" conversation and before I knew it, I was spilling my entire life story to this strange woman in less than hour - what ensued after was an exchange of contact information where she told me to email her, "I'm intrigued and would love to hear more". At that instinct, it all made sense to me - I was meant to be here in this moment so that our paths can cross. Why? I don't know yet. But I can't explain how I know for sure but sometimes you have to trust your gut feeling. So, thank you God for getting my attention albeit in a little dramatic way. Thank you for this mis-step that led to my missing my original flight, who knows I could have potentially cheated death. Thank you for sparking our lives and that off the drunk driver, although I'd hate to find out what the lesson in all this is for him, but according to an omen research interpretation a major accident means a major shift in direction of our life is needed.
These chain of events that temporarily suspend our normal daily business has reminded me to stop and reflect. To remember my triumphs and mis-steps on promises made or broken. The times I opened myself to adventure or closed it off for fear of getting hurt. It was a reminder that if you listen close enough to the signs and ask the RIGHT questions, you'll get an answer sometimes immediately but you also get another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, love more and stop worrying about "what if" but celebrate "what will be". I am reminded to be nicer - just when I thought I couldn't be anymore than I already am; to be kinder - when I didn't get it in return. In the end, however, if all this didn't happen. Life would have simply still kept going, EXCEPT, I wouldn't have had the quiet time I so desperately needed after having a busy non-stop month, I wouldn't have been inspired to write or meet someone interesting who was keen on hearing my story (who knows where that will all lead). Instead, it would have been a quiet weekend spent in a different city with my wife and occasionally ventured to go sightseeing, shopping and having dinner to catch up with family and friends and then start working again!.
Sometimes, if feels like there are so many things in this world we can't control but its important that we remember the things we can even if they come in the form of confirmation chills, lucid dreams, inner voices, gut feelings or synchronous events. All you have to do is just listen........
so glad you are safe, and yes to the universe being a canvas and palette of our own design ...
